Local AARP Chapter holds meeting
WEIRTON – President Joann Bugin called the October AARP Chapter 3846 meeting to order, followed by Virginia Kucan giving the invocation and members reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”
Vice President Bettie Williamson introduced Rick Pastri, who entertained the group. The Casey Sisters Dance group will entertain in November.
Secretary Barbara Purks and Treasurer Frank Fazio gave their monthly reports.
Reservation Chair Regina Truax said 74 members were in attendance. Membership Chair Joyce Dobb, collected dues and will collect in November and December.
Sunshine Chair Mary Rose Spano sent get-well cards to Claire French, Katy Allen, Lester Fridley, Loretta Nicholas and Helen Wudarksi. She sent a sympathy card to Nikke Cable. Members observed the October birthdays of Frank Fazio, Richard Dobbs, Dolores Proakis, Norma Boni, Billy Moss and Peggy Sweeney.
Regina Truax announced the following tours for 2014:
May 9-10, Lancaster;
May 23-27, New York City; and
June 6, Sugar Creek.

Barb McCoy collected $5.37 in September for the senior center, and Milt Fabianich collected one pair of glasses and two cell phones.
Without any nominations from the floor, Carol Irvine announced the officers and Board of Directors will remain the same in 2014. Nominating Committee Chair Carol Irvine thanked the committee, including Nancy Smurda, Marion Bowen, Enoli Romanelli and Katy Allen.
Mary Yates and Corliss Brown won Undo’s dinners, and Regina Truax and Katy Rosohac won the 50/25/25 drawing. Mary Tyson won the quilt, and Barbara Purks won the throw. Kathryn Hardsauk awarded Halloween-themed door prizes to Dee Krinock, Viola Blanc, Katy Rosohac, George Kucan, Barb McCoy, Regina Truax, Dolores Proakis, Jean Irvin and Louise Vucovich.
Virginia Kucan gave benediction, and the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting is Nov. 11.
