Program training offered
WHEELING – The American Lung Association will hold a Freedom From Smoking Facilitator training program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 4
The one-day training prepares participants to present the smoking cessation program. Those attending the facilitator program will be certified to run Freedom From Smoking clinics.
The clinics are designed to offer group support and encouragement to those quitting smoking. The program helps smokers understand addiction and teaches ways to break the habit, including nicotine replacement therapies and medications. It is an eight-session program, conducted over seven weeks by a certified facilitator.
There is no cost for the facilitator training. Those participating will receive the facilitator curriculum and access to the facilitator website, sample participant workbook and CD, certificate of completion and additional resources needed to run the program. The lung association provides on-going assistance with program implementation.
Applications will be accepted until the course is filed.
To apply for training, contact Linda Holmstrand at (304) 242-5548 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The training is funded by a West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services grant.
