Three Score Seniors hold meeting

WEIRTON – The Three Score Seniors October meeting was called to order by President Cookie Veltri.

Tony LaRosa gave the invocation and led members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”

House Chair Kathy McCarrick decorated in a Halloween theme.

Regina Truax led table games, and each table had a prize winner. Vice President Rosemary Gaynor announced guitarist Chuck Lucas will perform at the November meeting. Secretary Pat Delekta and Treasurer Joan Villa gave their reports.

Regina Truax announced the following trips:

Nov. 20, Rivers Casino, Frank Valli performs;

May 9-10, Lancaster; and

May 23-27, New York City.

Reservation Chair Vivian Weigel announced 101 members and three guests, including Gloria Jean Suchko and Stan and Mag Haynes, were in attendance. Membership Chair Nancy Smurda collected dues and will continue to do so through November. Those interested in joining the group can call Smurda at (304) 748-4624.

Sunshine Chair Winnie Kemp sent get-well cards to Grace Lenhart, Alice Cook, Edna Harrison, Claire French and Jean Ray. Joan Pohlman was sent a birthday card. Members acknowledged the birthdays of Connie Gilbert, Wilma Roberts, Dolores Wolfe, Frank Fazio, Dolores Proakis and Vivian Weigel.

With no nominations from the floor, Enola Romanelli introduced officers for 2014. They include President Marlene Hare, Vice President President Brenda Edwards, Secretary Barbara Purks and Treasurer Ida Haynes. Joe Veltri made a motion to accept slate as presented, and Regina Truax seconded the motion.

Ida Haynes, Sam Lescallette, Joan Villa, Margaret Chapman and Alma Wansack won prizes. Mary Margaret Klepadlo, Mary Fazi and Iona McColloch received decorated pumpkins. Carl Cross and Mary Orecchio received dinners. Virginia Kucan and John Fields won the 50/25/25 drawing.

Veltri reminded members the November meeting will be held Nov. 21, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. LaRosa gave the benediction.
