Upcoming library programs are detailed

Upcoming programs organized by the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County have been announced. They include the following:

— Book club for the Adena branch will meet today at 5:30 p.m. Join by calling the library at (740) 546-3782.

— Cookbook club for the Adena Branch will meet and eat on Thursday at 5 p.m. and at the Tiltonsville branch at 6 p.m. Participants bring in a covered dish from selected cookbooks. Join by calling the Adena branch at (740) 546-3782 and the Tiltonsville branch at (740) 859-5163.

— Enjoy coffee, doughnuts and a movie at the Brilliant Branch on Friday at 10 a.m.

— Registration starts now for Tot Time that will be offered at the Schiappa branch on Mondays, Oct. 28, Nov. 11, 18, and 25 at 6 p.m.; Tuesdays, Oct. 29, Nov. 12, 19, and 26 at 10 a.m.; and Wednesdays, Oct. 30, Nov, 13, 20, and 27 at 11 a.m.

— Watch a family movie at the Schiappa branch on Friday at 4 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. Register for one movie time by calling the library at (740) 264-6166.

— Play and Learn the Alphabet (caregiver and children ages 2-6) will be at the Schiappa branch on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. and also at the main library on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Letter-learning toys are set up for children to play with and to interact with other children.

— At 7 p.m. Tuesday Thomas Leary of Youngstown State University will present “American Steel: Legacy and Heritage” in room 2100 at Eastern Gateway Community College as part of the library’s “Steel Industry In Ohio” project.

The library has photographically preserved the Ohio Valley’s steel industry with 50 aesthetically framed and captioned images that were taken by an architectural industrial photographer. The photo exhibit, “Steel Industry In Jefferson County,” will be at EGCC through Saturday during regular operating hours.

— Children can make a craft today at 5:30 p.m. at the Adena branch and at the Dillonvale-Mt. Pleasant branch on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

— Babygarten (caregiver and children ages birth to two) will be held at the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant branch on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. This is a lap-sit program that will help babies with language development and early literacy skills through books, songs, and rhymes.
