NC Lions welcome governor

NEW CUMBERLAND – West Virginia Lions Club District Gov. Harrison Schramm; Second Vice Gov. John Wensyel; Secretary-Treasurer Eva Dague, also a past district governor; past International Director Larry Johnson; Zone Chair and Leader Dog Chair Dave Atkinson; Information Technology Chair Dave Ice; and past District Gov. John Patton attended a recent New Cumberland Lions Club meeting.

Several Wheeling Lions Club members also were present.

Lion Bob Manypenny led the prayer, and Lion Brian Webster led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Schramm spoke to club members about his goals and visions for the district’s future. He also present district governor pins to President Betsy Wells, Secretary Jennifer Meeker, Treasurer Jim Wells and Lion Bob Manypenny, the member who has been with the club the longest. Schramm presented Perfect Attendance Awards for the 2012-2013 club year to 34 club members.

Lion Bob Manypenny reported on the success of the club’s final pulled pork fundraiser of 2013. There will be a district cabinet meeting Nov. 10 in Warwood. Several members and guests made use of the Lion Minute. Ice, of the Newell Lions Club, announced the Newell club will host the district governor Nov. 14 at the Newell Den.

Club members were asked to bring cereal for donation to the food closet to the Christmas party.

Judy Tate won the 50/50 drawing. Lion Jill Majors and Lion Vince Gallagher of the Wheeling club, Lion Margaret Ann Patton, Lion Joyce Young, Lion Tom Stiles, Lion Sally Greathouse, Lion Don Deemer, Lion Dawn Cervi, Lion Bob Manypenny, Lion Joe Ghenne of the New Cumberland club, Judy Tate and Dague were door prize winners.
