concert Dec. 8
The fourth-annual “The Sounds of Christmas” concert featuring Splendid Sound, Gem City Brass, George Melhorn, Marla Inderbritzen, Ron Knapp, Jason Ray, Burl Jernigan and Bryan Ray will be held Dec. 8 at the Riverview United Methodist Church, beginning at 7 p.m.
The church is located at 105 N. River Ave., Toronto.
An offering will benefit the Salvation Army.
Splendid Sound is made up of Jim Ray. David Meyer, Chelsea Clegg and Craig McCasland.
Time to order
The Sacred Heart of Mary Holy Family Guild in Weirton will be baking sweet bread for the holidays on Dec. 5 and 6.
Order forms can be found in the vestibule, or interested individuals can call Irene at (304) 748-2628; Betty at (304) 723-1886;or Theresa at (304) 797-7263.
The bread is $6.50, plain, and $7 with raisins. The order deadline is Sunday.
The bread will be available for pickup on Dec. 7 and 8 after Mass.
Rolling of Scrolls
of Quinn AME
The Melinda Guy Missionary Society will sponsor the annual Rolling of the Scrolls at 3 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Quinn Memorial AME Church, located at 515 North St., Steubenville.
The event will include memorials in memory of loved ones and musical selections.
It is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Delores Young, Mary Collins, Ilana Chester and Soundra Palmer are program chairpersons.
The Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361 have announced events for December, including the Shaffer Christmas party and dinner set to begin Monday at 6 p.m.
Members are asked to arrive at 4:30 p.m. and to help with the residents.
The Knights regular meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The children’s Children’s Christmas party will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The event is co-sponsored by Mayor John “Wiz” Fabian and Scott Fabian.
Children of the Knights of Columbus and children of Mingo Junction can attend the party The party is for children ages 3 to 12.

“A Smoky Mountain Christmas” play will be presented at 6 p.m. on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15 at the Promise of Victory Church of God in Colliers.
It is open to the public.
The church is located on top of Mechling Hill behind Colliers Corner Cupboard.
