Senior Center plans events
NEW CUMBERLAND – The Hancock County Senior Center will hold a spaghetti luncheon fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The meal includes spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and beverage.
Dine-in meals are $5. Take-out and delivered orders are $6. Delivery will be made to Hancock House, Westminster, Alicia Arms, Peachtree Inn, Freedom I and II and Overbrook Towers for orders made by 4 p.m. today by calling (304) 564-3801.
Delivered orders must be pre-paid. Orders will be delivered between non and 3 p.m. If Hancock County Schools are on a two-hour delay or canceled, the event will be held Dec. 18.
Become a Healthier You will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 18. The monthly meeting discusses “The 12 Dimensions of Wellness,” and December’s topic is “Finding meaning.
Upcoming activities include:
11:30 a.m., crafting, 1 p.m., line dancing; and 1 p.m., Panhandle Piecemakers, Mondays.
10:3 a.m., Singing Seniors, Tuesdays.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m., bingo, Wednesdays and Fridays.
11 a.m., beginner line dancing class, Thursdays.
Special events include:
1 p.m. today, book club. Members discuss the previous month’s book.
1 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 26, couple’s billards and women’s lessons.
1 p.m. Thursday, card-making class. The cost is $3 per person. All materials are provided.
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 19, bingo extravaganza. Nentwick Care Center sponsors bingo, lunch and prizes. Free blood pressure and sugar level checks.
Jan. 17, Wal-Mart day trip. Space is limited; those attending should limit their purchases to two large cloth shopping bags.
Fitness classes include:
10 a.m. Mondays, Walk With Ease. Thirty minutes of walking accompanied by music. This class is free.
5:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Tae Bo. Susan Clibbens instructs the fitness course that incorporates martial arts techniques. The cost is $3 per person.
10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Everybody’s Arthritis Fitness. Range of motion, cardio, strengthening and balance drills. This class is free.
10:45 a.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. Fridays, Arthritis Tai Chi. A joint-safe program to reduce pain and stiffness and improve flexibility and strength. This class is free.
5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Zumba. Debbie Teter instructs the fitness/dance class. The cost is $3 for those 60 and older and $5 for those 18 to 60.
11 a.m. Wednesdays. Frank Lewis instructs the course, meant to improve balance, flexibility and strength. The cost is $3 per person.
The soup and salad bar is available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The cost is $4 for soup and salad, including a beverage and dessert. Soup or salad alone is $3.
