Dyslexia Center holding fundraiser
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Children’s Dyslexia Center will host the second annual Purses for a Purpose luncheon and auction at noon Feb. 8 at the Masonic Temple located at 227 N. Fourth St.
Designer bags will be for auction, including Coach, Thirty-One, Vera Bradley and Michael Kors. Several have been designed and handcrafted by local artisans, and others are sports and seasonally themed.
The lunch includes homemade soups and sandwiches, garden salad, dessert and beverage. The event also will include door prizes.
Tickets are $13 for adults, and $8 for students. They can be purchased by contacting the Dyslexia Center, by calling (740) 282-4875 or at the door the day of the event.
Gary Cain Realty and Auctioneers will provide auction services. All proceeds benefit the dyslexia center. The event will help the dyslexia center bridge a $39,000 budget deficit and continue to offer services to the Tri-State area.
The dyslexia center provides reading remediation for those children who learn differently because of dyslexia. The group also provides Orton-Gillingham training for teachers and other qualified people. The tutor-training program is internationally accredited. Pilot training programs also are available to any interested school district.
Parents, teachers and school districts can contact the dyslexia center’s office for information at (740) 282-4875.
