Italian American Cultural Club welcomes 14 new members
The Italian American Cultural Club welcomed 14 new members and made plans for upcoming events during the Feb. 10 meeting held at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville.
President Jane Antonucci presided at the meeting attended by 122 members. Carol Almonte opened with a poem and prayer in leading in opening exercises.
New members include Mary Basil, Mary Carinci, Gerri Lucas, Amanda Palladino, Rich Angelica, Liz Loizzio, Sabatino DiMarzo, John Basil, David Mosti, Luccio Massa, Rob Palladino and Joe Loizzio.
Tami Cashioli reported that the first Campo Italiano meeting for those members interested in planning the campo program will be held March 4 at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Campo will be held June 16-20.
Antonucci announced that there were still scholarship applications available. The application deadline is April 1. Five scholarships will be awarded. The recipients will be announced at the April meeting.
The club will have a presence in the Festival of Nations set for March 15 in Weirton. A practice for children participating was scheduled.
The New York City trip has been canceled because of a lack of participants.
Ballo di Primavera Chairman Elida Petrella reported that annual event will be held April 5 at St. Florian Hall with hors d’oeuvres served at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Ray Massa EuroRhythms Band will perform. Sponsorships are being sought with $150 including two tickets to the dinner as well as ads in the Ballo di Primavera, Una Serrata and Campo programs. Tickets for ballo are $35 and will be on sale at the March meeting and also are available from Bill and Rita DiMarzio. Tickets are limited. Tables can be reserved for groups of eight to 10. Table numbers are assigned though a drawing.

Thirty-four members signed up for various committees, including telephone, publicity, membership, Ballo Di Primavera, Campo, Una Serrata, family picnic and the Christmas party.
Lori Piergallini won the 50/50 drawing.
Paula Diorio and Rita Costantini won the dinner coupons for the March meeting.
