Library announces programming

WEIRTON – The Mary H. Weir Public Library has announced upcoming events.

A free movie night will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the activity room. Free popcorn will be provided.

Story hour begins at 6 p.m. Mondays or 10 a.m. Tuesday, beginning March 4. Those wanting to register their children must do so by Friday.

Marty and Delia Wach will give a presentation on their books, “The Cat Has Class” and “The Great West Virginia Snow Adventures,” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 6 in the activity room.

Norma Gosney will present “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” in song and sign language March 13.

A free movie night, featuring “The Smurfs 2,” will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 27 in the activity room. Free popcorn will be provided.

Marty and Delia Wach will give a workshop, “How to Write Children’s Books” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 3 in the activity room.

Deb Marino and Weir High School students will present “Perchance to Dream” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. April 17 in the activity room.

The summer reading program, with the theme “Fizz, Bang, Read!,” will be held from June 9 to Aug. 8, with a costume extravaganza opening party from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 in the activity room. Those attending are asked to dress as their favorite weird scientist, robot or other scientifically inclined character. Those planning to attend the party must pre-register by calling the library.

Artist Michael Albert of New York will lead a workshop in building collages with empty cereal boxes June 16. Those attending must bring three empty cereal boxes. Those planning to attend must pre-register by calling the library.

Mark Kistler will give a webinar on cartooning July 8. Those attending must bring a sturdy notebook, sketch pad, two sharpened pencils and an eraser. Those planning to attend must pre-register by calling the library.

The annual Teddy Bear Tea, including a story, activities, snacks and door prizes, for children will be held July 23. Those attending must pre-register by calling the library.
