Auxiliary begins planning events
WEIRTON – The American Legion Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary held a meeting March 17 with President Shirley Brecht calling the meeting to order.
Chaplain Marcy Spano gave the invocation, Brecht led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Preamble of the American Legion Auxiliary’s Constitution. Secretary Clara Robinson called the officers’ roll and read the Jan. 20 meeting minutes, which where approved as read. Treasurer Gloria Jerrel gave the financial report, which was approved and filed for audit.
Chaplain Marcy Spano sent at get-well card to Edith Truax. The members will participating in the July 4 parade. The group will hold a bakeless bake sale, beginning March 31 and ending April 30. The Weirton Post’s Last Man’s Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. May 25. A steak dinner will be held June 22. The Christmas party will be held Dec. 15 at Undo’s Italian Restaurant, and those attending are asked to bring an exchange gift.
The auxiliary is planning a Poppy Day and preparing letters for Girls State.
The spring conference will be held April 27 in Pine Grove, and the district will hold the fall conference Oct. 26, with the Post 10 auxiliary hosting.
Shirley Brecht won the 50/50 drawing.
Brecht closed the meeting and Spano gave the closing prayer.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 21.
