Historical society to meet Saturday

ELDERSVILLE, Pa. – The Jefferson Township Historical Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the White Church located at 12 Fire Road, across from the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Manuel Fernandez of Langeloth, Pa., will be the guest speaker, giving the presentation, “Experiences in Life’s Journey.” Previously, Fernandez spoke to the group about his Spanish roots and his hobby making handmade models. His models have been on display at the society’s Heritage Hall Museum.

The society will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24 at the Weirton Wal-Mart.

The society will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial located at Cedar Grove and Fire roads. Refreshments will be available following the ceremony at the White Church. In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the White Church.

The group will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27-28 at the White Church.
