Weirton center announces events

WEIRTON – The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold a corn toss and blood pressure screening at 10 a.m. May 14 at the center.

Center volunteers will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through May 10 in the parking lot.

Tables are $20 each. Volunteers will sell hot dogs and baked goods. Those wanting to donate rummage sale items or baked goods are asked to call the center.

Carriage Inn will hold 10 cent bingo at 10 a.m. May 9 and Carriage house will hold 10 cent bingo at 10 a.m. May 16.

The center will be closed for Election Day May 13.

Weirton Medical Center will give a presentation May 15 at the center.

The center will hold a “spokes” open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 28.

Center volunteers will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30. Those wanting to donate baked goods are sought.

The following classes are available at the center:

9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, low-impact aerobics;

10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, preventicare exercises;

10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, bridge;

4 p.m. Tuesdays, chess;

5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, line dancing;

5 p.m. Tuesdays, euchre or 500 cards;

12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, pool tournament;

noon Thursdays, euchre tournament;

10 a.m. Fridays, dime bingo; and

noon Fridays, 500 cards.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for Friday bingo, early birds start at 6:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 7 p.m. Hearing screenings are held at 10:30 a.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays. Blood pressure screenings are held at 10 a.m. the second Wednesday.
