Iceburgs to hold skate-a-thon
PITTSBURGH – The Steel City Iceburgs special-needs ice hockey team will hold a registration and skate-a-thon fundraiser from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center located at 700 Grand Ave. The event will include prizes, food, a Chinese auction and free skate.
The Iceburgs is a special-needs hockey program for developmentally and physically impaired individuals aged 5 and older. The program offers skills, development sessions and game opportunities. Basic on-ice equipment is provided. Donations are accepted. The team is a nonprofit organization and a member of the American Special Hockey Association.
