Missionary Union holds meeting

COLLIERS – The Open Door Baptist Church’s Women’s Missionary Union met with President Mildred Richter presiding and seven members present.

Saundra Tate gave the opening prayer. Rhonda Dawson served as hostess.

Members gave funds toward the group’s three supported missions.

Secretary Donna Garrison gave the previous meeting’s minutes and the treasurer’s report.

The June shoe box collection will be going for vacation Bible school supplies. The Open Door vacation Bible school will be held June 16-20. The group also supports Mission Dignity, which assists retired ministers and their spouses. Lois Flemm and Rosemerry Jennings read letters from ministry recipients. Saundra Tate read Missionary Becky McGregor’s letter.

The group purchased Father’s Day gifts. Rhonda Dawson heads the card ministry.

Members discussed helping with parishioner Evelyn McMasters’ sewing ministry, which is sponsored by the church. Children’s clothing is made and shipped to places throughout the world. The group considered making a donation toward the postage costs.

Rosemerry Jennings read the devotional, “The Birthmarks of The Believer,” and a Father’s Day poem.

The next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 1. Nancy Petrel will serve as hostess.
