Chapter celebrates America

WEIRTON – Alpha Delta Kappa Fidelis Gamma Chapter met July 3 at Williams Country Club with 11 members and one guest attending.

President Carolyn Allison welcomed guest Sara Evans and lit the “memory candle” for those members unable to attend.

The room was decorated with a patriotic theme, and each member wore red, white and blue in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

Ruth Fuller read “The Stars and Stripes Spell Freedom,” Liz Pugh read “Our Flag Flies High,” Carol Hendon read “One Nation Under God” and members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang “God Bless America.”

Anne Ford read the June minutes, and Martha Everly submitted the treasurer’s report and reminded members dues will be collected through December. June guest Nancy Zachewicz sent the group a thank-you card.

Members gave their officer and committee reports. Member Eva Belle recently was recognized by the Brooke County School District and her name was placed on the Wall of Fame. Several chapter members attended the recognition ceremony.

Members shared their comments and concerns for the good of the group, and members sang “Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.” The meeting was adjourned.

Martha Everly, Kay Kuzma and Twinkle Smith were hostesses.

The next meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 7 at Williams Country Club, Marland Heights.
