Donahues entertain Three Score

WEIRTON – Three Score Seniors President Marlene Hare called the June meeting to order.

Tony LaRosa gave the invocation and led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing “God Bless America.”

Vice President Bettie Williamson introduced the evening’s entertainment, Donahue and Son.

In Secretary Barbara Purks’ absence, Winnie Kemp read the May meeting minutes.

Treasurer Ida Haynes gave the treasurer’s report, which was approved and filed for audit.

Tour Director Regina Truax announced upcoming tours. They include:

Aug. 23, Italian Festival, Bluefield, Pa.;

Sept. 10-12, Seneca Casino, Niagara, N.Y.; and

Sept. 22-26, Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Membership Chair Nancy Smurda reported the club has 145 members.

Sunshine Chair Winnie Kemp sent get-well cards to Carl Cross, Mary Ann Elliott, Kathy Jones and Dolores Wolfe and read a thank-you from Dolores Ginier.

Members recognized the birthdays of Pat Deletka, Al Daugherty, Joseph Pulice and Regina Truax and anniversaries of Chuck and Jose Elliott, Jim and Marlene Hare and Ray and Ruth Fox.

Reservation Chair Vivian Weigel announced 87 members in attendance.

Guests were Earl and Liz Edwards, Gloria Sutchko, Betsy Watson and Karen Welsh.

Historian Lee Edwards displayed photo albums from 2004-2007.

Hospitality Chair Jim Hare gave door prizes to Al Daugherty, Ruth Daugherty, Pat Deletka, Winnie Kemp and Jeannette Meriwether and gave Undo’s dinner certificates to Ernie Andrews and Josephine Scott.

In honor of Father’s Day jars of snacks and candies were given to Chuck Elliott, John Fields, George Kucan, Lou Tassey, Joe Veltri and Bill Wetzel.

Jack Cummings awarded the 50/25/25 drawing to Ruth Daugherty and Betty Gianni.

Tony LaRosa gave the benediction and meeting was adjourned by Marlene Hare.

The next Three Score Seniors meeting will be held July 24 in Weirton.
