Continuing education offers equine therapy class

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia University Continuing and Professional Education will offer another session of “Equine Assisted Activity and Therapies” this fall.

Explore the field of equine assisted therapy and discover how therapeutic horsemanship can improve the lives of those with disabilities. “Equine Assisted Activity and Therapies” is a hybrid class featuring both an online portion and an in-person clinic day. Learn the strategies of hippotherapy and equine facilitated mental health activities through online course material, then gain hands-on experience applying lessons with the in-person clinic. The clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 13 at On Eagles’ Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center in Fairmont.

This class is open to anyone with an interest in learning about therapeutic horsemanship. Registrations will close Sept. 4. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants can earn 25 contact hours and occupational therapists can earn 24 contact hours by taking this class.
