Never Alone West Virginia to host roundtable May 10

WEIRTON — Never Alone West Virginia will hold a “Caring Community Seminar” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 10 at Weirton Medical Center located at 601 Colliers Way.

Lisa Pinney of Pittsburgh will be the featured speaker, discussing trauma and addiction. A round table will include several speakers, including Kim Watson of Northwood Health Systems; James Stock, First Circuit Northern Panhandle Drug Court coordinator and probation officer; Weirton Police Chief Rob Alexander; paramedic Dezo Polgar, Dr. Jerome J. Aul, pain management doctor; pharmacist J.J. Bernabei; parent Joyce Vogler; and Josh Fayak of Teen Challenge Ohio Valley. Each round table speaker will address a different aspect of the effects of addiction on those addicted and the community for 10 minutes. The round table will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

It is open to the public, and there is no admission charge. Continuing Education Units for nurses will be available; CEUs are pending for social workers and pharmacists. Refreshments will be offered.

An ArcelorMittal grant to Never Alone funds this and other community events to promote education, awareness and training to fight addiction in the community.
