Ohio University Heritage College

of Osteopathic Medicine

WELLSVILLE — Wellsville High School alumnus Jacob A. Koopman is the first medical student from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine to take part in an innovative rotation program for aspiring physicians, offered by Eli Lilly and Co.

The Heritage College is one of four medical schools to partner with Lilly on its Medical Student Rotation Program, which began in 2014. This four-week experiential learning program lets students become directly involved with departments within the firm such as research, clinical trial development, medical affairs, regulatory, bioethics and patient safety. Students also can meet and network with Lilly leaders. Koopman, a third-year medical student at the Heritage College, Dublin, graduated from Wellsville High School with honors in 2009, then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Ohio State University in 2013 before enrolling at the Heritage College.
