Local girl crowned at 2017

U.S. Personality Pageant

An award-winning personality earned a 9-year-old Wellsburg girl top honors this week at a national pageant.

Alexa Grace Loy, daughter of Chris and Ingrid Loy, was crowned the 2017 United States Personality Pageant International Elite Jr. Miss on Sunday at the pageant in Dubois, Pa.

Over three days of competition, contestants competed in beauty, casual wear, outfit of choice, photogenic, interview, project presentation and talent categories.

Titleholders also are encouraged to choose a charity or project that is close to their heart that will also improve their communities. Girls are then responsible for planning, fundraising, and implementing their project.

Loy presented her community service project, “Toasty Toes” — in which she took new pairs of socks and stuffed them with needed toiletries for a local homeless shelter.

Loy holds a regional United States Personality Pageant title which gave her an entry into the national pageant. She is a Brooke Little Bruins Varsity Cheerleader, is on the Studio Stars Competition Cheering Team, attends Shirlie Girls Modeling, takes dance classes at The Studio, is a 2017 West Virginia Monarch Miss and is a 2016 reigning Brooke County Fair Queen.
