Titanic presentation

-- Contributed

Tom Phoolery presented “Titanic, Tragedy of Errors” at the Schiappa branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County to an audience at the library as part of its summer reading club. Phoolery addressed 30 errors and circumstances that contributed to the Titanic tragedy, combining education and entertainment to discuss the “hows and whys” of the tragedy, why lifeboats were not full, the ice warning was ignored and myths and legends about the British passenger liner that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in the early morning hours of April 15, 1912, after it collided with an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. More than 1,500 people died.
