Toronto church to mark

95th anniversary Sunday

TORONTO — The First Baptist Church of Toronto at 900 Pierce Ave. will celebrate its 95th church anniversary Sunday to the theme “The Church That Christ Built.”

The afternoon speaker at 3 p.m. will be the Rev. Ernest Peachey of the Second Baptist Church of East Liverpool, who will be accompanied by his church and congregation.

Dinner will be served at 2 p.m.

All are welcome to attend.

Church to mark anniversary

with special speaker

Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly will celebrate the church’s 89th anniversary on Aug. 20 with a special speaker.

Minister Will L. Lewis IV of Apostolic Faith Church of Chicago will speak at both Bethlehem Apostolic Temple, 330 Main St., Wheeling, at 10:30 a.m. and at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly at 3000 Weir Ave., Weirton, at 12:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m.

Lewis is the grandson of Leon and Carrie Good and the great-grandson of the late Deacon Willie and Mother Bertha Tucker.

Quinn Memorial to mark Men and Women’s Day program

STEUBENVILLE — Quinn Memorial AME Church will be celebrating its Men and Women’s Day program on Aug. 18, beginning at 6 p.m.

Musical guests include Delores Wiggins; the C.R.E.W. of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church; the Mount Zion Male Chorus; Wayne and Cynthia Lytle of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church; Felicia Thomas of Bethlehem Temple Church, Pittsburgh; Rick Hicks and the AKC (Anointed Kids of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church); and other special musical guests.

Chairpersons for the program are Eloise Curenton and Lisa Mason. The Rev. Raymond J. Mickens is the pastor.

On Aug. 20, the Men and Women’s Day Program will continue the celebration with the Rev. Lisa Martin of Lee Chapel, Cleveland, as the morning worship service’s guest speaker.

announces evening speakers

TORONTO — Pastor Frank Hudson will be the guest pastor for the 7 p.m. Sunday service at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, located on county Road 68, Toronto.

The Rev. Ricky Riggs will lead the 7 p.m. service on Aug. 20.

Open Door Baptist

Missionary Union meets

COLLIERS — The Open Door Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Union held its August meeting with eight members attending.

Vice President Rhonda Dawson presided at the meeting where Sandra Tate gave the opening prayer. Members contributed to the three supported missions.

Reports were given by Secretary Donna Garrison; Treasurer Pam Holden; and Dawson, who updated members on the card ministry.

August Operation Christmas Child items are books, stationary, crayons and similar items.

A surprise party was held in honor of Nancy Petrel’s 85th birthday. She read a devotional titled “Known Yet Loved” based on Romans 5:8.

The next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at a local restaurant for the installation of officers for the coming year.

parish picnic Sunday

STEUBENVILLE — St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 284 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, will hold its parish picnic following church services Sunday.

Weirton church taking orders for cabbage rolls, pierogies

WEIRTON — St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, located on Colliers Way across from Weirton Medical Center, is holding a frozen, uncooked cabbage roll and pierogie sale, which is under way now through Sept. 5.

Cabbage rolls are $3 each, with a minimum of six per order, and pierogies are $9 a dozen.

Items need ordered by Sept. 5 by calling (304) 479-0196. Pick-up will be at St. Nicholas Church Hall on Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

E.S. church school supply

giveaway aided more than 100

EAST SPRINGFIELD — East Springfield Christ United Methodist Church, 203 Church St., hosted a school supply giveaway Aug. 5 that helped 126 children, according to a church spokesperson.

The outreach included free hot dogs, chips and drinks.

Annual corn roast Aug. 20

at Burgettstown church

BURGETTSTOWN — Paris Presbyterian Church at 127 Steubenville Pike, Paris (Burgettstown), Pa., will hold its annual corn roast on Aug. 20, beginning at 5 p.m.

It is open to the public and will feature corn on the cob and hot dogs along with bluegrass music.

Splendid Sound to sing

Sunday at Rosemont Chapel

STEUBENVILLE — Splendid Sound will minister in music with a southern gospel performance on Sunday at Rosemont Chapel in Steubenville, beginning at 7 p.m. The church is located at the corner of Williams Boulevard and Goulds Road, county Road 28, Steubenville. It is open to the public.

Rayland church to host

annual vehicle show Sept. 10

RAYLAND — Meadowbrook Church of God, located at 10152 state Route 150, Rayland, will host its 11th-annual car, truck, bike and antique equipment show on Sept. 10.

Registration will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with trophies and awards presented at a 4 p.m. ceremony. There is a $5 entry fee.

Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 75 entrants. There will be food and live music by Beacon Road. For information, contact the church at (740) 859-6511.
