For the ninth consecutive year, Dollar Tree stores throughout the nation sponsored Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit serving America’s military families, as the two joined forces in a nationwide school supplies collection campaign called the Back-To-School Brigade. Through the generosity of Dollar Tree patrons, donated funds helped purchase school supplies for needy students. Operation Homefront especially targets the children of military families around the nation by presenting the school supplies to military bases to distribute to children there. In partnership with Operation Homefront, Starkdale Presbyterian Church in Steubenville picked up and distributed supplies collected through the local Dollar Tree store on Mall Drive to children of military families and needy children at area elementary schools, focusing on pupils in grades one through three. Outreach committee members involved included, from left, Mary Beth Allan, Denise Franckhauser, Dave Turkaly, Suzanne Brown, Lisa Busby, Karen Hill and George Allan.
