Brilliant Lions Club hears

review of 2017 expenditures

BRILLIANT — A report reviewing 2017 expenses was given by Todd Henry, treasurer, when the Brilliant Lions Club met recently in the club room.

Ralph Nickoson presided at the meeting, where Glenn Dennis offered the prayer.

Jim Everson reported on a proposed bus trip July 22 to the Pittsburgh Prates game against the New York Mets. The cost will be $75, with box seats and a $10 food ticket.

A thank-you note was read from Steve Thornton, a candidate for international director. Thornton noted he was impressed with the club’s many community projects. Terry Snyder, zone 8 chairman, received the club’s endorsement for the district governor second vice president seat she is seeking.

Susan Nolan received information on a request for a payment for eye glasses, which is being looked into.

A discussion was held on the removal of trees on Third Street that were planted in memory of veterans and loved ones. Ron Brandfass reported that residents had purchased the trees and markers, and now consideration is being given to removing them. Club members oppose the idea and asked that Lions member John Goosman, who also is a member of the Wells Township committee, convey that to the group. Goosman said that it was costing the township a large amount of money to keep the trees trimmed and maintained.

Curt Creamer reported on a club fundraising project which involves having a sandwich booth at the Buckeye North stadium musical concerts in the summer.

A zone meeting will be held at the J.T. Karaffa Elementary School in Toronto on March 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Door prize winners were Nickoson, Brandfass and Butch Ford.
