Lenten luncheon, frozen
pierogi sale in Weirton
WEIRTON — A Lenten luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Church Hall, 604 Colliers Way, across from Weirton Medical Center.
An a la carte menu will include cooked pierogis, $1 each, and haluski at $3 a pint or $6 a quart. Patrons can eat in or get carry-out, but there will be no pre-orders.
Frozen potato and cheese pierogis also will be for sale for $9 a dozen.
Buena Vista UMC to host
Easter egg hunt Saturday
STEUBENVILLE — Buena Vista United Methodist Church, located at 3801 Schenley Ave., will host an Easter egg hunt beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.
It will be held rain or shine and is open to all ages. The outreach will include games, crafts and refreshments. All are welcome, a church spokeswoman said.

VFW Auxiliary to host
all-you-can-eat breakfast
WEIRTON — The Auxiliary to the Panhandle Post No. 2716 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast at the VFW, located at 3435 Main St.
It will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The auxiliary will serve pancakes, scrambled eggs, choice of sausage links or ham, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $7.
Access is through the back door between Main and West streets, close to parking and enabling it to be handicap accessible. The event is open to the public.
After 17 years, Gadabouts
hold their final meeting
WINTERSVILLE — After 17 years, members of the Gadabouts met for the final time at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville.
Members Frank Vostatek and Lola Swanagan opened the meeting with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
Light Touch provided the entertainment, performing popular slow-dance music from the 1950s through the 1970s. President Dale Irwin recognized birthdays and anniversaries as well as members on the prayer list.
Marge Serafini won the 50-50 drawing conducted by Ron Fallert and Jennie Avoli. Door prizes furnished by Frank Vostatek and Lola Swanagan were won by Jennie Avoli, Jane Barney, Evelyn Parise, Mary Ann Sadler, Frank Sciarra, Nick Smarrella, Peggy Rekai, Carl Truax and Betty Swickard.
Door prize tickets were distributed by Frank and Carol Wisnieski.

Fundraiser set for Saturday
at Wellsburg area church
WELLSBURG — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to help Follansbee resident Debby Smith with medical expenses from her late husband’s lung cancer treatment will be held Saturday at the Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church at 1340 Washington Pike, Wellsburg.
The dinner is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Meals are $7 for adults; $5 for children ages 2 to 12; and those 2 and younger eat for free. The event also will include a Chinese auction, a 50/50 drawing, popcorn and cotton candy. Donations include Cedar Point tickets, Dollywood tickets, wine baskets, WVU items, crafts, candles, chocolates, gift cards, West Virginia made maple syrup, dog baskets, massage sessions and cleaning services.
Fish fry set for Friday
at Toronto American Legion
TORONTO — The Toronto American Legion Post 86, located at 415 Market St., is holding a fish fry from noon to 6 p.m. Friday. It is open to the public. Carry-outs will be available.

Longaberger Bingo to benefit American Cancer Society
STRATTON — The Team Cooper Relay for Life team will host its 10th-annual Longaberger Bingo fundraiser, which will be held April 6 at the Stratton Municipal Hall, just off state Route 7.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with bingo beginning at 6:30 p.m. A $25 donation includes 15 games of bingo. All prizes are Longaberger baskets, wrought iron or pottery, including current line and retired products. The grand prize drawing is for a large boardwalk basket.
The fundraiser also will include a Longaberger Chinese auction with snacks and beverages available for purchase.
More than $1,000 in prizes will be awarded.
All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Jefferson County.

Pastor’s first anniversary
celebration scheduled
STEUBENVILLE — Mount Zion Baptist Church, 221 N. Seventh St., will mark the first anniversary of its pastor, Bishop Jermaine V. Moore Sr., with a three-day celebration set for Friday through Sunday.
The celebration will include the bishop’s ball beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Froehlich’s Classic Corner in Steubenville, featuring Pastor Jason Elliott of First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville and Sean Eiller of WTOV TV9. The musical guest will be Clyde Douglas.

Quarter auction Saturday
to benefit group home
FOLLANSBEE — A quarter auction will be held Saturday at the Follansbee Community House to benefit Brooke Place, a group home for girls.
Doors will open at 11 a.m., with the auction to begin at noon. Admission is $5, which includes the first paddle, with additional paddles available for $1 each. Food will be sold.
