WIAACC delivers care bags

As part of its March meeting, representatives of the Women In Action Against Cancer Coalition of Jefferson County delivered 50 care bags for patients at the Tony Teramana Cancer Center. The canvas bags contain a blanket, word search book, pen, hard tack candy, hand sanitizer, tissues and a $20 gift card for Bob Evans. Involved in the presentation were, from left, Rachel Paris, Teramana staff member; Ann Craig, coalition member; Enza Anderson, Teramana staff member; Marsha Lewis, Teramana staff member; Dr. John Hyland, radiology oncologist; Caitlyn Asbury, Teramana staff member; Jennifer McCourt, Teramana staff member; Marlene Lesnansky, coalition member; Leslie Aftanis, coalition co-chair; Janet Pillar, coalition member; and Janet Sharpe, coalition co-chair. The WIAACC is a grassroots program that provides cancer education and through its fundraising efforts generates money not only to provide the care bags but also to make possible payment for breast and cervical procedures through the Women’s Health Center and prostate screening in April during Minority Health Month. The coalition meets at noon on the first Monday of the month at Trinity East, and new members are welcome.
