Women’s golf news


The Cadiz Women’s Golf League’s play of the day on May 16 was a “Bingo-Bango-Bungo” game. Points were awarded to the players who got on the green first, or one closest to the pin or first to putt in the hole.

Winners with most points were: First place, Roberta Cireddu; second, Glenda Sensel; and third, Denise Augustine. Least putts were won by Roberta Cireddu and Nep Rowland.

Glenda Sensel had a chip-in on hole No. 3, which gave her a Birdie.

The hostess for Wednesday will be Janis Cook, and the play of the Day will be “Hit the Fairway Minus Putts.” Tee time remains at 10 a.m.


The Steubenville Country Club Women’s Golf Association had a “Skills Day” as its event on May 16 with Dianna Adams and Marilyn Kenny as hostesses.

Pam DiDomenico won longest drive on hole No. 9, and Paula Hope took the prize for second shot closest to the pin on hole No. 3.

Closest to the pin winners were Kenny on hole No. 2 and YangJa Koh on the 12th hole. Koh also took the low putts award.

Chip-ins were recorded by Adams and Koh, who shared the money cup.

DiDomenico announced that the President’s Cup Tournament will start this week and will continue for four Wednesdays.

This week’s event will be low gross and low net. Golfers will report at 8:30 a.m. for 9 a.m. start.


Town and Country Golf played medal play with a mulligan on May 10.

Winners were: Patty Saccoccia, A flight; Kathy Antinone, B flight; and Betty Jose and Shirley Guida tied in C flight. Low putts was Antinone.

Other winners were:

Long drive hole No. 2: A flight, Wanda Retzer; B flight, Pat Zorne; and C flight, Guida.

Long drive hole No. 7: A flight, Signa Findlay; B flight, Edie Higgins; and C flight, Nancy Lelli.

Closest to the pin hole No. 8: A flight, Minnie Walters; B flight, Antinone; and C flight, Guida.

New members are welcome. The league plays at 10 a.m. on Thursdays at Spring Hills Golf Course in East Springfield.
