FOP helps Young Marines
The Fraternal Order of Police, Weirton Lodge No. 84 recently made a $250 donation to the Tri-State Young Marines. The Tri-State Young Marines will be sending two of its members to Navajo Code Talkers Day events in Window Rock, Ariz., in August. There, approximately 100 Young Marines from units across the United States will have the opportunity to meet Marines who used their Navajo language to establish secure communications in several key battles during World War II in the Pacific Theater. The Young Marines also will perform various community service projects and will take part in commemoration events on the Navajo Nation. On hand for the presentation were, from left, Weirton Patrolman Josh Dennis, Young Marine Lance Cpl. David Connors and FOP Lodge 84 President Sgt. Brian Beatty.
