Grand jury indicts eight

STEUBENVILLE – A man charged with trying to break into a Mingo Junction bar in November was among the eight people indicted by the Jefferson County grand jury on Wednesday,

Michael P. Chapman, 61, of 246 Lincoln Ave., Mingo Junction, was indicted on single counts of attempted breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools, aggravated menacing and tampering with evidence.

Mingo Junction Police received a call about someone trying to break into a bar on Commercial Avenue on Nov. 13. Officers responded and found Chapman and a backpack and other items at the rear of the bar.

Chapman was shot by a Steubenville Police officer on April 19, 2008, during a robbery investigation at the Kroger store in the Hollywood Plaza.
