January health schedule outlined

STEUBENVILLE – Health Commissioner Patty Reda has announced the city health department nursing division will be offering blood pressure screening and tuberculosis skin testing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays during January.

Reda said the health department will also offer STD testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia by appointment only.

“Patients should call the health department at (740) 283-6000, extension 1506, to schedule an appointment,” said Reda.

Reda said childhood and adult immunization clinic hours will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays only.

“A parent or legal guardian must accompany the child. And a record of prior immunizations must be provided before immunizations will be administered,” noted Reda.

“We will have adult flu shot clinics every Tuesday at the city health department on South Third Street from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. until our supply is depleted. The fee for the flu vaccine is $25 for adults with no billable insurance coverage,” declared Reda.

“Please bring your Medicare and Medicare Advantage cards as well as Ohio Medicaid cards for billing purposes. Patients should also bring other billable insurance plans including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medical Mutual of Ohio and Health America/Health Assurance,” said Reda.

“Anyone wanting a child to receive the flu vaccine should contact the the nursing division at (740) 283-6000, extensions 1506, 1507 or 1508 to speak to a nurse,” said Reda.

The health department offices will be closed on Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Day, Reda said.
