Rape Trial Day Three: Expert Witness For Defense Expected To Be Called
STEUBENVILLE – Evan Westlake concluded his testimony Friday afternoon in the juvenile rape trial under way in Steubenville.
Under cross examination, Westlake said he, “felt a lot of regret,” on what happened the night of the incident.
He indicated he should have done something more at the time, but he did not.
“I felt I owed some people some apologies and had to set a few things straight,” Westlake said.
Westlake also testified that he did not see the defendant Trent Mays perform any digital penetration on the alleged victim. He said he took no photos and did not receive any.
The court is in recess until 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The defense is expected to call an expert witness out of order so the expert can testify about forensic evidence. The prosecution is then expected to continue to present its case.
