Chamber event for the ladies

WEIRTON – It was all about the ladies in Weirton on Thursday.

The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce held its 15th-annual Ladies Day at the Chamber Thursday, with more than 300 women from throughout the local communities gathering at the Serbian-American Cultural Center for lunch, a few goodies and a fashion show.

With a theme of “Country Girls Can Survive,” many of those in attendance were decked out in some of their favorite country styles.

“It’s a great crowd and a lot of fun,” Chamber President Brenda Mull said. “I think the country theme is a huge success.”

Forty businesses set up booths Thursday, providing handouts to everyone in attendance, with everything from chocolate to samples of wine. The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Weirton provided everyone with a free one-night stay at the hotel.

Goody bags were once again provided by Mainstream Physical Therapy, with owner John Kirlangitis, his daughter Isabella, and employee Joan Andrews greeting everyone as they arrived.

Guests then were encouraged to visit each booth.

“They get a little something from everyone,” Mull said.

The ladies had lunch, and then were treated to a fashion show provided by Anna-Kay’s Unique Fashions of Steubenville, with models showcasing spring and summer fashions from several designers.

Mull thanked everyone who worked to put the event together, especially chamber Office Manager Amber Nest and Members Services and Projects Coordinator Patty Soplinski, as well as all the businesses and organizations who provided their support.

“We couldn’t do it without them,” she said.

Ladies Day at the Chamber was sponsored by First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union, Sports Radio 1430 WEIR, WTOV, and The Weirton Daily Times and Herald-Star.
