Chester HOF class announced

CHESTER – The Chester Hall of Fame Class of 2013 includes the city’s current mayor, its police chief and two former educators, committee Chairman Jerry Smith said.

The 12-member Chester Hall of Fame Committee met to consider the nominations on Monday, selecting Mayor Ken Morris, Chief Ken Thorn, Chester Lions Club member and retired teacher Don Hood and the late Sara Thomas, who also taught in Hancock County schools.

The four new members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at 6 p.m. July 3 at First Christian Church, 330 Indiana Ave. The induction ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Chester Hall of Fame dates back to the city’s centennial celebration in 2007, when the first inductee class was announced.

The Hall of Fame currently has 21 members.
