Follansbee man arrested following stabbing
FOLLANSBEE – A Follansbee man is in critical condition at a Pittsburgh hospital and another has been charged with malicious wounding in connection with an incident Sunday night.
David Roland Hofffman, 45, of 144 Loretta Ave., Follansbee, was arrested with the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department for allegedly stabbing a man known to him in the chest at his home at about 10:30 p.m.
According to police reports, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Hoffman’s home after a man there called 911 to report a man was standing over him with a knife.
Sheriff’s deputies said when they arrived, they found the victim sitting in a stairway inside and bleeding heavily and Hoffman sitting in the living room, where they arrested him.
The victim was treated at the scene by the Brooke County Ambulance Service before being transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital, according to the reports.
A motive for the assault wasn’t clear.
Hoffman is being held in the Northern Regional Jail, where he awaits arraignment in Brooke County Magistrate Court.
