Planners send shop to council
WEIRTON – The Weirton Planning Commission agreed Wednesday to recommend that city council permit a pawn shop to operate out of a property currently zoned for commercial/professional uses.
The property, at 1306 Potomac Ave., previously housed a recycling center. During the public hearing on the request, local Realtor Jamie Guida of JJ Guida/Airport Realty said her client wants to move his pawn shop into the building.
Chief Code Officer Rod Rosnick said a pawn shop business is currently not permitted at the property.
“Keep in mind, this will be for all C-2 areas, not just this (one),” he said.
The commission voted unanimously to refer the request to council for its approval.
