Trial date set for homicide case
WELLSBURG – A Nov. 13 trial date has been tentatively set in the case against a Burgettstown, Pa. man for the shooting death of 30-year-old Jason Lee Pratz at his McKinleyville home in February.
Rocco Jesse Zuccaro, 28, of Burgettstown, who has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge for which he was indicted, appeared with his attorney, Michael Nogay, for a status hearing Friday.
First Judicial Circuit Court Judge Ronald Wilson set the trial date, pending a psychological evaluation to determine Zuccaro’s competence to stand trial.
Wilson also set a Sept. 30 pre-trial hearing for the case and deadlines.
At an April 31 hearing, Nogay was granted a court order seeking medication he said Zuccaro needs for treatment of “a serious mental condition.”
Zuccaro was arrested by the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department following his release from a mental health facility where he had voluntarily undergone treatment.
He is being held at the Northern Regional Jail in lieu of $1 million bond set in circuit court.
