Boil order issued for parts of downtown
WEIRTON – Residents and businesses in a portion of downtown Weirton are under a boil order following a water line break in the city Tuesday.
Officials with the Weirton Area Water Board announced the boil order in effect for Wood Street, Grant Street and the 200 and 300 blocks of Marland Heights Road.
The boil order is the result of a water line break along Marland Heights Road in the downtown area of Weirton Tuesday morning. Water department crews made the necessary repairs to the line, flushing and refilling the system in the affected area as a result.
Under regulations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state Bureau of Public Health, water samples must be tested before the water is allowed to be used.
In the meantime, officials are asking those living or working in the affected areas to boil all water being used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation. Those affected also can use bottled water, officials said.
