Boil order issued in Brooke Street area of Weirton

WEIRTON – The Weirton Area Water Board has issued a boil order following a line break this morning on Brooke Street.

According to a statement issued by the city’s water department, crews currently are working on making repairs to the line, at which time they will be flushed and refilled.

The boil order affects residents and businesses on Brooke Street, Labelle Avenue, Gullette Lane, Pleasant Avenue, Sycamore Street and Edgewood Avenue in Weirton.

Those in the affected area should bring all water to a boil if being used for drinking, ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation. Bottled water also could be used, officials state.

The boil order will remain in place for at least 24 hours while water samples are being tested for possible contamination as a result of the line break.
