Salvation Army collecting school supplies
WEIRTON – The beginning of the school year is just around the corner, and the Weirton Salvation Army is looking to lend a hand to students in need.
The Salvation Army is in the process of collecting school supplies for the school year.
“We encourage our community to donate school supplies to fill 200 book
bags,” Weirton Salvation Army Social Services Director Brenda Greathouse said.
Items needed as part of the school supply collection include plastic rulers, colored markers, colored pencils, protractors, compasses, highlighters, two-pocket folders, jumbo crayons, college rule notebooks and wide rule notebooks.
The bags will be filled by volunteers on Wednesday.
Parents of children needing assistance for school supplies are asked to contact the Salvation Army office to provide information, including their child’s name, grade and a telephone number.
