Steubenville man shot in Weirton

WEIRTON – A 28-year-old Steubenville man was shot and critically wounded early today in the 2600 block of Weir Avenue.

Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty said today his department was notified by the Weirton Police of the shooting incident.

McCafferty said the wounded man was Gary Roseberry of 336 Summit Ave..

“The investigating officers in Weirton indicated to us Roseberry was not initially cooperating with the police,” McCafferty said.

McCafferty said the Weirton Police Department said Roseberry had been taken to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Weirton Police were not available for comment this morning.
