Manchin to make stop in area
FOLLANSBEE – U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin will be visiting Follansbee this week as part of a week-long jobs tour in observation of Labor Day.
The “Our Jobs, Our Economy, Our Future” tour focuses on honoring hardworking West Virginians, hosting an energy field hearing, helping small businesses, protecting jobs and hearing from business leaders and residents across the state.
Manchin, D-W.Va., is scheduled to be at the Follansbee Community House at 4 p.m. Thursday where he will meet with residents to hear their concerns and suggestions on how to rebuild America.
“I always enjoy traveling across our beautiful state and meeting with hardworking West Virginians,” Manchin stated.
Manchin’s schedule on Thursday also will include a stop at the Morgantown Event Center at 9:15 a.m. for a roundtable discussion with bankers, civic leaders and representatives of FHL Bank, as well as stop at River City Ale Works in Wheeling at noon where he will deliver keynote remarks to the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon.
“I traveled southern West Virginia earlier this month and I am excited to host my third field hearing in Morgantown on such an important topic, like energy, and to talk directly with residents at a town hall in the Northern Panhandle.”
The week’s tour will begin Monday in Marmet, with Manchin participating in the community’s Labor Day Parade before speaking at a rally in Racine.
Other stops include Vienna and Friendly on Tuesday, hearings on energy and other topics on Wednesday in Morgantown, and an open house for the senator’s new field office in Charleston on Friday.
