United Way ready for some football

WEIRTON – It will be a super party for the biggest football game of the year, and benefiting many local organizations.

The Weirton United Way will hold its annual Pre-Super Bowl Party event from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Serbian American Cultural Center.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Weirton United Way’s 2013 campaign, currently in the process of raising $260,000 for 13 area agencies.

“This is the last fundraiser for the 2013 United Way campaign,” United Way Executive Director Kristin Bowman-Cross said.

In its third year, the Pre-Super Bowl Party will feature a Chinese auction, free food, music and other attractions. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite team colors.

“It grows every year,” Bowman-Cross said.
