Taking it to the hoop

Taking it to the hoop

College basketball fans aren’t the only ones who will be thinking of action on the hardwood in the coming week.

On March 29, the Weirton United Way will unveil its newest fundraiser, the Taking it to the Hoop Three-on-Three Basketball Tournament, with action taking place throughout the day at Weir High School.

Time is running out to participate, so if you are interested we encourage you to contact the Weirton United Way and sign up as soon as possible.

It should be a great day, with teams of three, or possibly four, facing off against each other to showcase their skills, compete for pride and assist one of Weirton’s biggest charitable organizations.

The Weirton United Way’s staff and volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year to assist local groups provide a variety of services to our residents, and we always encourage the community to show its support when possible.

We thank the United Way, along with event chair and 2014 campaign chair Michael Hagg for putting together this new event, which provides an opportunity to residents of just about every age to not only help out the organization, but to get out for a fun day.

We also thank Hancock County Savings Bank for, once again, stepping up to show support for the events and organizations of our community by acting as the event’s sponsor.

We look forward to seeing another successful Weirton United Way event as they take it to the hoop.
