Planners approve PUD plan amendment
WEIRTON City planners unanimously approved a request for a planned unit development plan amendment at the regular meeting of the Weirton Planning Commission Wednesday.
Altair Development requested a PUD plan amendment for Phase II of “The Village at Colliers Way” project located on American Way.
The developers asked to change the use from residential to retail/professional offices category.
Mike Chek of Altair Development explained that they made the request because a doctor expressed interest in locating his office to the development. Additional details about the office were not discussed.
Subsequent applications will still be required from the developers in coming months for the approval of subdivisions, zoning and building permits, according to officials.
The Village at Colliers Way has been in the works in recent years, being developed in phases beginning with the opening of a Kwik King store and gas station. That was followed with the opening of a handful of other retail outlets, including a hair salon and insurance office, in the last year.
