Car hits utility pole in Chester

CHESTER – Chester police are investigating a one-vehicle accident that took out a utility pole in front of Arner Funeral Home on Sunday.

Police Chief Ken Thorn said the accident resulted in minor injuries for the male driver, who was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital.

He did not have the name of the driver or passenger, who was uninjured.

Crews from Mon Power were on the scene until early Monday morning replacing the pole, which was clipped in two.

Thorn said the driver had just come off the U.S. 30 ramp at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of his pickup truck and hit the pole.

The investigation is trying to determine whether the accident was the result of a mechanical malfunction or human error, he said.

No citations have been issued.
