Online Fun Map set to premiere

If you haven’t yet picked up your copy of the recently released Brooke County Fun Map, you still have a chance to check it out.

Beginning this week, the illustrated map of businesses and other sites throughout Brooke County will be available online on the websites of both The Weirton Daily Times and the Herald-Star.

It joins previous Fun Maps from Weirton, Steubenville and the Wintersville-Toronto areas on the websites.

“Access to the new Brooke Fun Map is available from The Weirton Daily Times and the Herald-Star websites,” Michael D. McElwain, online editor for the newspapers, explained. “Just go to the home page and click on the ‘Fun Maps’ button along the left hand side of the page.”

Online visitors will be taken to a landing page on the websites which will provide previous news articles about the Fun Maps, as well as links to each of the Fun Maps to be produced.

By scrolling around the interactive online version of the Fun Map, area residents will have access to a variety of information about participating businesses, including a link to their websites and telephone and address listings.

The Brooke County Fun Map, created by artist Lillian Brue, depicts numerous Brooke County businesses and landmarks – such as Brooke High School and Bethany College – as well as business owners like Jim Rosso of Waldorf Distributing, Arnold Pittman of Weisberger’s Clothing Store, Bill Garvey of State Farm Insurance and Eric Fithyan of Chambers of James Funeral Home.

Printed copies of the Fun Map also are still available, at a cost of $1 each, at the newspapers’ office at 401 Herald Square, Steubenville, Ohio.
