Plans for July 4 parade begin

WEIRTON – Independence Day is just a little over a month away, and plans are being made in Weirton to celebration the nation’s birth.

The annual Weirton Fourth of July Parade is scheduled for July 4, with a theme of “Independence Day – Red, White and Blue.”

It will begin at 10 a.m. in the north end of Main Street, according to organizers, and proceed south to the Main Street and Marland Heights Road intersection.

Organizers are searching for parade participants, with area dance schools, social and service organizations, churches, antique cars, bands and many more traditionally taking part.

Entry forms must be turned in no later than June 28.

Categories include floats, minifloats, decorated vehicles, equestrian unit, emergency vehicles and specialty units.
