Route 22 ramps to close for highway maintenance
WEIRTON – Two ramps along U.S. 22 near Weirton will be closed beginning Tuesday as part of an ongoing road maintenance project, according to information from the West Virginia Division of Highways.
Beginning Tuesday, Ramp A from U.S. 22 eastbound to state Route 2 southbound, and Ramp C, from Route 2 north to U.S. 22 east, will be closed and remain closed until repairs of the roadway surface and joints are complete on each individual ramp.
During the closures, those wanting to go south on state Route 2 will be directed to continue east to the Harmon Creek exit, then return westbound on U.S. 22 to the state Route 2 southbound exit Ramp D.
For northbound traffic, those wishing to go east on U.S. 22 will be directed westward across the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, south on Ohio Route 7, west on University Boulevard and onto U.S. 22 east.
WVDOH officials advise motorists to watch for changing traffic patterns and to consider alternate routes where possible.
The project is scheduled to last several weeks while crews perform the road maintenance.
