Chester celebrating

Friends Maleek Goatley, 4, of East Liverpool, and Isabella Cashdollar, 5, of Chester, enjoy the Ferris wheel Thursday evening in Chester. The city is celebrating the Chester Volunteer Fire Department’s 100th anniversary with a week-long festival at Fourth Street and Carolina Avenue. The fair, with rides, old-style games, food vendors and nightly entertainment, continues today from 5-11 p.m. and Saturday from 1-11 p.m. The festival will close with a parade at 5 p.m. Saturday and a fireworks show at 10 p.m. Lineup for the parade begins at 3 p.m. on First Street. — Stephen Huba
